For the past couple of days I have been seeing an Advertisement where a kid is seen creating an app. So I started to think.. That's great. Companies can now recruit people without a degree. What exactly are these children gonna do after creating the app? May be create some more?? And as COVID has an effect of not going outside the house. They get to spend more time on the computer. So parents must be thinking.. At least he/she is learning something now. After all, it is a technical world out there.
I can see how India has a habit of getting addicted to something and keep on pushing it down children's throats. Lets go back a few years, wasn't engineering the prime degree every student should attain to do anything else they want to? Let's go back a few more years.. wasn't IIT the brand everyone wanted their child to have? And now it's becoming a software engineer.. creating apps and websites even though they have no idea what exactly they may be used for or why they need to learn this before they can go out to play. Why are we obsessed with some idea of making children pursue something the world thinks is trending. Did you ever talk to your child or sibling about what they want to become? What makes them happy? Have you ever thought of giving them a little peace and joy and letting them live a normal childhood where they discover themselves, play sports, be creative, learn music, dance, figure out which subjects they like the most, then give them proper guidance about all the various kinds of professions in the world they can choose from?
Did you ever observe that all the countries around the world have a career guidance counselor in every school and college to guide children towards their dream jobs? They have a habit of making sports a compulsion so that children stay fit and sharp both physically and mentally. Unlike India, where there is a school or a college on every corner of the street ready to shove down what ever they are selling as education down student's throats at very high rates. After all this, people have the audacity to ask why millennials are trying to escape this country. Do you really expect us or the future generations to go through this? We believe a healthy body is a happy body. We believe loving what one does is equally important to making money. We believe life is meant to be lived not survived.
Do you still believe India has the best education? It's time you break this illusion. Let children enjoy their childhood. They will have to catch up with life one day, don't force them into it before it's time. Learn and teach them the importance of every profession and most importantly give them the right to choose.
