Lying Flat

Are you confused by the title?

I was too when I read about this in an article that came up on my google news. Believe it or not, this is a lifestyle that is being implemented by the millennials of China nowadays. And, to be honest I can easily see myself thoroughly enjoying this way of living. Who can blame them, with all that our lives have become?

Coming to the concept, it is about living life on ones' own terms, not running behind success, leading a simple yet fulfilled life. With employees working longer hours and increasing prices of necessities with no growth in incomes life is taking a horrific turn for many. Maybe it all started with a guy named "Luo Huazhong", quitting his job, going out on trips forever, enjoying doing nothing, and working only to support himself from day to day. He called his lifestyle "Lying flat" which has now become a sensation and has lifted the spirits of all the tired and exhausted Millennials all around China!

Elsie Chen, writing in The New York Times explained that to lie flat means to forgo marriage, not have children, stay unemployed and eschew material wants such as a house or a car. It is the opposite of what China's leaders have asked of their people.

If we deeply think about it, there are many pros than cons in adopting this kind of life.

Pros can be as follows: Earth as well as your inner soul heals; the rat race that has become a part of our life stops; the economic differences between countries can be reduced; unity in diversity can actually be seen; high standards of living for everybody.

I could only come up with one con: advancements in technology may stop.

Worth a try for at least a month every year in this life right! What do you all think about this? Let me know in the comments below. :)
