All my life, I have heard people say .. Go the Extra Mile! And I always used to think .. But why? I am fully satisfied with what I have and what I have achieved.. Why do I go the "Extra Mile"? Let me tell you a story that made me realize why to go the extra mile.
So .. me and my friends were on this trip which was an idea out of the blue. We made no plans, no bookings, no arrangements.. we just took a couple of motorcycles and set out to go to a viewpoint. After a pretty good ride on the road, we saw that our destination is through a narrow ghat road. I suggested we go by foot, but we were told by passersby that there were 8 more kms to the view point. So, all of us decided, it has to be by bike. The ride was smooth for the first 3 kms and then we reached 2 big sinkholes and it looked almost impossible to get the bikes through that because there was mountain on one side and small valley on the other. But, one of my friends said "I think I can do this". And he did, he got all the bikes through with his riding skills, through that part of the road. He went "The Extra Mile" instead of just giving up and choosing to walk. Then, we all got to see a beautiful waterfall on the way, reached the view point and a little on the side was a sign that said "This way" and another view points' name. It was pointing to the top of a steep hill. Having no experience in trekking, I was very reluctant at first. But, on my friends insistence I started climbing. There were steep steps, big gaps, loose rocks but with the help of each other we finally reached the top with minimal scratches and a lot of sweat and I must say, the view there totally swept me off my feet. Seeing my amazed face one of my friends commented "It is worth the bravery you showed!". And that instant I knew.. that even I took "The extra Mile".
Let us take a minute and think. For two people in love, isn't marriage the extra mile? For a coder, isn't optimizing the code even after approval an extra mile? Aren't all inventions existing because of an extra mile? It is all on you to decide if you want to go the extra mile or not.

That's so great !! Thanks for sharing. I hope you get over this phobia.
On a trip to coorg, I was scared of deep water reservoirs. One day my friends pushed me enough to get on a boat and I agreed. I sat in the middle at the start, but when the ride started all I cared about, was the euphoria of my friends. I took the high road, got up and started rowing from the side of the boat..
I took that extra mile from center to the side end and it was worth mentioning.
We enjoyed, laughed, got the best memory packed in our bags.
Yeah, but I am still scared of taking that step into the boat another time.🤷😄
Good 🌹
Absolutely. Well written. We decide to go the extra mile or not. Maybe for our benefit or satisfaction or adventure or maybe just to see your loved ones smile :)
